Lecce 0-2 Juventus: Weston McKennie and Douglas Luiz score twelve minutes apart
Weston McKennie and Douglas Luiz struck either side of the half-hour mark, and Lecce finished with ten men after Kialonda Gaspar's stoppage-time red card, as Juventus won 2-0 at the Via del Mare.
Juventus settled this one before half-time and were rarely troubled afterwards. Weston McKennie opened the scoring in the 29th minute, finishing a Douglas Luiz pass, and Douglas Luiz returned the favour twelve minutes later, converting a Federico Gatti assist to make it 2-0 before the break. Lecce never found a way back into the game and finished with ten men after Kialonda Gaspar was sent off in stoppage time, having already been booked in the second half.
Two goals, two assists, same two players
McKennie and Douglas Luiz effectively scored each other's goals: McKennie finished Douglas Luiz's pass in the 29th minute, and Douglas Luiz got on the end of a Federico Gatti ball twelve minutes later to double the lead. It was enough of a cushion that Juventus could manage the rest of the game without needing to force anything further, finishing with 58.3% of the possession and four corners to Lecce's five — territory that did not translate into a bigger scoreline, but was never seriously threatened by a Lecce response either.
Gaspar's afternoon ends early
Kialonda Gaspar was booked in the 76th minute and sent off in the fourth minute of stoppage time, leaving Lecce to finish the game with ten men on their own ground — a rough end to an afternoon that had already gone against them on the scoreboard.
Where it leaves the table
Juventus move to 14 points from eight games and 7th place, level with Frosinone but three points off the Como-held Europa League place in 5th. Lecce stay 12th on 9 points, three wins and five defeats, with their third loss in their last five league games.
