Tottenham end a six-game winless run, beating Coventry City 3-1
James Maddison, Omar Marmoush and a stoppage-time Ben Davies goal gave Tottenham a 3-1 win over Coventry City, their first of the season, after Jack Rudoni had pulled the visitors level early in the second half.
Tottenham Hotspur finally have a Premier League win on the board. James Maddison put them ahead inside 14 minutes, Jack Rudoni levelled for Coventry City four minutes into the second half, and goals from Omar Marmoush and substitute Ben Davies, the second in the sixth minute of stoppage time, sealed a 3-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
It was the last fixture of Matchweek 7 to be played, pushed to a Monday night, and it finished with Spurs celebrating their first three points of the campaign after six matches without one.

Two runs, moving in opposite directions
Tottenham had gone into the match without a win in any of their first six Premier League games — three draws and three defeats, including a 2-3 home loss to Aston Villa and a 1-1 draw at Manchester United their last time out. Dominic Solanke's own run without a league goal for Spurs continued, but it no longer mattered: Maddison, Marmoush and Davies did the scoring between them, and a fourth without a win became a first with one.
Coventry arrived having won their last two in the division, 1-0 away at Nottingham Forest and 4-1 at home to Newcastle United, the kind of form that had lifted a newly promoted side off the bottom of the table. Rudoni's leveller, four minutes into the second half, looked for a while like it might extend that run to three. Instead, Marmoush restored Tottenham's lead within nine minutes, and Coventry's two-match winning streak ended at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
A bench goal settled it late
Ben Davies, sent on among five Tottenham substitutes, scored the goal that put the result beyond doubt deep into stoppage time, teed up by fellow substitute Dominic Solanke. It capped a game in which the hosts had by far the better of the chances without ever being completely untroubled — 16 shots to Coventry's 12, but only five on target to Coventry's one, and almost two-thirds of the possession that still needed three different goalscorers to turn into three points.
What's next
Tottenham head into the weekend having gone into Matchweek 7 bottom of the table on 3 points from six games; this result gives them their first win of the season to build on. They travel to face Chelsea on Saturday 24 October. Coventry had been 16th on 6 points before kick-off, with this their first defeat in three, and now look to respond after their winning run came to an end in north London.
