Ipswich Town 1-1 Nottingham Forest: Enciso's reply denies Forest their first away win
Neco Williams put Nottingham Forest ahead inside 13 minutes at Portman Road, but Julio Enciso's reply before half-time earned Ipswich Town a point they badly needed.
Neco Williams gave Nottingham Forest an early lead at Portman Road, finishing from Daniel Muñoz's pass in the 13th minute, but Julio Enciso levelled for Ipswich Town before the break and neither side could find a winner after that.
Forest had the better of the shot count, five on target to Ipswich's three, and more of the ball in patches, but Ipswich's resilience after conceding first — and Enciso's finish just before half-time — meant the visitors left without the away win that would have lifted them out of the bottom three.
Match facts
- 13' — Neco Williams (Nottingham Forest), assisted by Daniel Muñoz
- 41' — Julio Enciso (Ipswich Town)
Issa Diop was booked for Ipswich just after the hour, Murillo for Forest three minutes later — the only two cards of an otherwise even contest.
Form guide
Ipswich had won two and lost three of their previous five league games coming in, so a point at home, with an equaliser to show for it, is a reasonable staging post. Nottingham Forest remain without a win since beating Aston Villa in mid-September — three straight losses before today's draw.
What's next
The draw takes Ipswich Town to 12th on 10 points. Nottingham Forest move to 18th on 6 points, still inside the bottom three but off the very bottom of the table.
