A scoreline that flatters Lazio

Monza finished with a higher expected-goals figure than Lazio, 1.84 to 1.51, and put six shots on target to Lazio's seven, despite playing a man down for 55 minutes and having a third of the possession. The home side's two-goal cushion came from Tavares and Isaksen inside 23 minutes, both set up by Tijjani Noslin, and the difference in the end was that Lazio's first-half goals came before the red card and Monza's came after it.

Corrections

  • October 12, 2026: Monza's goal was a header by Saba Goglichidze on 46 minutes. The article originally described it, without naming the scorer, as a goal scored late in the match. It also gave Lazio's pre-match record as ten points from four matches and their form as three wins and a draw from four; they had played five, with four wins and a draw (13 points).
