Rabiot came on at 57'. By the 66th minute the Serie A opener was over
Ruben Amorim's first competitive match as Milan coach turned on one substitution: Adrien Rabiot set up Alphadjo Cissè at 64' and scored himself at 66'. Ché Adams' stoppage-time header only made the scoreline look close.
Serie A 2026-27 started on a Sunday night in Turin, with 27,958 people in the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino and a new Milan coach standing on the touchline for the first time. For an hour, Ruben Amorim's side had 59% of the ball and almost nothing to show for it.
Then he changed it. Adrien Rabiot and Luka Modrić came on together at 57'. Nine minutes later Milan were 2-0 up and the opening night belonged to them.
Two minutes, two goals
The first came at 64'. Yunus Musah drove forward, Rabiot picked out Alphadjo Cissè, and the 19-year-old finished — the same Cissè who had put an early chance into the side-netting inside the opening two minutes.
Two minutes later Samuel Chukwueze crossed and Rabiot arrived to make it 2-0. An assist and a goal in the space of 120 seconds, from a player who had been sitting down when the hour mark passed.
Chukwueze was the game's outstanding performer either side of that — Diego Mascardi had already denied him around the half-hour, in one of the few moments of a flat first half.
Torino's numbers do not match Torino's night
Ignazio Abate's side finished with a stoppage-time goal from Ché Adams and an expected-goals figure of 1.01, which sounds like a team that was in it. The shot chart says otherwise: eight attempts, one on target, and that one went in at 90+3'.
Milan had 19 shots to Torino's eight and completed 486 passes to 315. This was a comfortable win dressed up as a nervy one by three minutes of stoppage time.

What's next
Milan get their home opener on Friday 28 August, hosting Venezia at San Siro — Amorim's first look at the Curva Sud with three points already banked. Torino go to Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium on Saturday 29 August, where a first shot on target inside 90 minutes would be a reasonable target.
