RB Leipzig beat Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-0, and it's Rocco Reitz who scores against his old club
Ridle Baku broke the deadlock on 26 minutes, Antonio Nusa curled in a second just after the restart, and Rocco Reitz — Gladbach's captain until this summer — capped it in Martin Demichelis's first Bundesliga game in charge.
Martin Demichelis picked up his first Bundesliga win as RB Leipzig coach in style, beating Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-0 on matchday 1. Gladbach started the brighter side, but Leipzig gradually took over and led when Ridle Baku played a one-two with Tidiam Gomis before slotting home from inside the box on 26 minutes.
Four minutes into the second half, Gomis was involved again, flicking the ball into the path of Antonio Nusa, who cut inside and curled a finish into the top corner from 17 metres for 2-0.
Reitz against his old club
The third goal carried the most weight. Christopher Nkunku, on for his second Leipzig debut after replacing Gomis, set up Rocco Reitz on 66 minutes, and the summer signing — Gladbach's captain until this transfer window — drilled home from 12 metres to make it 3-0 against the club he led for years.

Leipzig had less of the ball than Gladbach but turned it into almost double the shots and nearly three times the shots on target — a lopsided game underneath a scoreline that already looked one-sided.

RB Leipzig are 2nd in the Bundesliga after matchday 1, on 3 points and inside the Champions League zone, and travel to Werder Bremen on Saturday 5 September. Borussia Mönchengladbach are 17th with no points, in the relegation zone, and host SV Elversberg the same day looking to get their season moving.
