Jacob Ramsey's 88th-minute strike rescues Newcastle a 2-2 draw after they trailed Bournemouth twice
Marcus Tavernier and a Malick Thiaw own goal put Bournemouth 2-0 up inside 35 minutes. Harvey Barnes pulled one back straight away, and Jacob Ramsey's late finish completed the comeback: Newcastle 2-2 Bournemouth at St James' Park.
Bournemouth were the better side for long spells at St James' Park and had the lead to show for it. Marcus Tavernier converted after a deflected effort from Scott on 9 minutes, and Malick Thiaw turned the ball into his own net on 35 after Justin Kluivert's shot had cannoned back off the post. Two goals up, and cruising.
Newcastle answered almost immediately. Harvey Barnes curled in a left-footed finish from the left two minutes later to make it 2-1, and it stayed that way until Jacob Ramsey found a composed finish into the bottom corner on 88 to complete the turnaround for a point.
Bournemouth's habit for late collapses
It is now three straight matches in which Bournemouth have conceded in stoppage time or the closing stages, and they are the first Premier League side this season to score first in three consecutive games without winning any of them — despite out-shooting Newcastle 17 to 8 on the day. Newcastle, under Matthias Jaissle, remain unbeaten. Matías Fernández-Pardo made his Newcastle debut off the bench.
