The first Premier League match ever played at the Coventry Building Society Arena ended in defeat for the home side, even though Coventry did almost everything the numbers say a team should do to win one.
Frank Lampard's side had 66% of the ball and the better chances for long periods, but couldn't turn control into goals. Hull City needed one moment: set free by Belloumi on the counter, substitute Liam Millar slotted calmly past Carl Rushworth with eight minutes to go, and that was the game.
Second win in a row for Hull, second defeat in a row for Coventry
It's two wins from two for Sergej Jakirović's side, who beat Manchester United in their opening match and now have Coventry's scalp too — a result few would have predicted from the possession stats alone. For Coventry, back in the top flight after 25 years, it's a second straight league defeat following the opening-day loss to Arsenal.
