Adrián Niño's late leveller earns Málaga a point at Celta Vigo

Celta Vigo and Málaga shared the points in a 1-1 draw at Balaídos on Sunday, in a meeting between two of LaLiga's bottom three. Ferran Jutglà's header on 41 minutes had Celta closing in on their first win of the campaign, but Málaga's Adrián Niño rescued a point deep into the second half, a result that leaves Celta still without a win after four matchdays and Málaga winless in five.

Jutglà broke the deadlock just before the break, finishing off a Hugo González cross from the right to put the home side ahead. Málaga, who had managed just one goal in their first four league matches, needed until the 83rd minute to respond: a Pablo Martínez shot was blocked into a corner, and from the resulting set piece Adrián Niño rose to head the equaliser past Vlachodimos.

Two sides still searching

The draw stretches Málaga's run without a win to five league matches — two draws sandwiched around three defeats — while their attack remains the division's most blunt, with only two goals scored all season after this one. Celta's own form has followed a similar pattern: a draw and two losses before this point, and still no victory to show for it.

Before kick-off, Celta sat 19th on one point from three matches and Málaga 18th on two points from four, both inside LaLiga's congested bottom third alongside Valencia, Elche and Villarreal. This point nudges each of them forward without lifting either clear of the relegation zone, and both will be looking for a first win before the international break.
