Jayden Bogle scored Leeds United's first goal at Brighton in 12 years, putting the visitors ahead inside 15 minutes. For long spells after that, it looked like a first win of the season for Daniel Farke's side — Dominic Calvert-Lewin missed a one-on-one and later saw an effort cleared off the line, and Ao Tanaka had a first-half goal ruled out for offside.
Brighton found a way back into it in the second half, Luka Vuskovic heading home from a corner in the 71st minute to make it 1-1. Leeds finished the afternoon with an expected-goals tally of 2.66 to show for their missed chances — comfortably enough, on paper, to have won the game.
Wasted chances
Lewis Dunk made 12 clearances for Brighton, twice as many as any other player on the pitch, while Brighton's Olivier Boscagli created five chances on his own — matching the combined total created by every Leeds starter. It was enough to explain why the hosts, for all Leeds' early dominance, finished the stronger side.
