Ludovic Ajorque put Brest ahead inside 15 minutes at the Stade Francis-Le Blé, and for the best part of an hour that lead held. Nice managed only two shots on target all night, five fewer than their hosts, but needed just two of them: Elye Wahi levelled it on 61 minutes and turned provider 22 minutes later, setting up substitute Sofiane Diop for a 1-2 win that completed the turnaround.

  • 61' — Elye Wahi (Nice), assisted by Mohamed Amoura
  • 83' — Sofiane Diop (Nice), assisted by Elye Wahi

Two shots, two goals

Brest had the better of the possession and more than three times as many shots on target, yet it was Nice who scored with almost everything they had. Mohamed Amoura freed Wahi for the equaliser, and Wahi immediately returned the favour for Diop, who had only just come off the bench. It is the kind of efficiency that does not show up in a possession count, and it is what separated the two sides at the final whistle.

A frantic finish for Nice's discipline

Nice picked up five yellow cards to Brest's three, two of them in the closing minutes — Niels Nkounkou in the 90th and Isak Jansson eight minutes into stoppage time — as they defended the lead Wahi and Diop had just given them. No one saw red, and the result stood.

Where it leaves both sides

Brest had won twice and drawn once in their previous five coming in, including a 5-1 win over Angers and a 1-1 draw at Lille, but two defeats in that same run — now three with this one — leave them 13th on 9 points. Nice had also lost two of their last five, but a win over Strasbourg sat among them, and this latest result — their third league win of the season — lifts them to 10th on 11 points, two places and two points above the side they have just beaten.
