Barcelona needed two minutes to put Getafe to the sword at Camp Nou on Saturday. Anthony Gordon opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, Gabriel Jesus doubled it on 30, and Jules Koundé — turning in a Lamine Yamal pass — added a third on 73 to confirm a 3-0 win that kept Hansi Flick's side perfect through eight LaLiga matches this season.

The scoreline undersold how one-sided the afternoon was. Barcelona finished with 82% of the possession and 22 shots to Getafe's four, eight of them on target against a single effort from the visitors, and an expected-goals reading of 2.05 to 0.18. Getafe's frustration showed in the longer run: Kiko Femenia and Jonathan Mojica were both booked before half-time, and Sergio Boselli and Rubén Terrats followed in the last 20 minutes — four yellow cards for the visitors against two for the hosts, one of them for Dani Olmo just after the restart.

Eight for eight

Saturday stretches Barcelona's unbeaten start to eight league matches out of eight. They had gone into the weekend top of LaLiga on 21 points from seven games — seven wins, no draws, no defeats — and nothing about Getafe's visit threatened to interrupt that run. The campaign so far has produced two 5-0 wins (at Elche, at Valencia) and a 7-2 rout of Racing Santander at Camp Nou, alongside tighter results like the 3-1 win at Sevilla that preceded this one; Getafe's visit fit the pattern of the bigger scorelines rather than the closer ones.

The other number from Saturday worth watching is Yamal's. His assist for Koundé's goal was his fourth confirmed league assist of the campaign through this round, a tally that had him level with Barcelona teammate Gordon and Espanyol's Javi Hernández at the top of LaLiga's assist chart entering the weekend — Saturday's pass, once the competition's own list is updated, could put him outright ahead.

Getafe's road problem

For Getafe, the defeat continues an uncomfortable pattern rather than starting one. Three of their first seven league matches this season were played away from the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez — at Alavés, at Osasuna and at Real Betis — and they lost all three without scoring a single goal, conceding five between them. Saturday made it four defeats on the road without a goal, this time against opposition at the opposite end of the table from the three they had already lost to; every one of Getafe's eight points so far has come at home.

Where it leaves both sides

Barcelona had entered the round five points clear of Atlético Madrid and Real Betis, both on 16, with Real Madrid fourth on 15 — the perfect record extending that gap further still. Their +24 goal difference after seven matches was already comfortably the best of any club in the division, ahead of Real Madrid's +10 and Atlético Madrid's +9, and Saturday's three goals without reply only widened it. Getafe had been 12th on eight points from seven matches, three clear of the relegation zone with four goals scored all season; Saturday's result does nothing to fix the goalscoring problem that has defined their campaign so far.
